Vernon G. Smith (born April 11, 1944) has served as the Democratic representative for House District 14 (Gary area) continuously since 1990, making him one of the longest-serving members of the Indiana House. He holds a Doctor of Education from Indiana University Bloomington (1978) and served as a professor of education at Indiana University Northwest for 33 years, retiring in July 2025 after 59 years as an educator.
