Background

Hunter Smith was first elected in November 2024 to represent House District 24, which covers portions of Boone and Hamilton counties including Zionsville, Westfield, Carmel, and Sheridan; he won with 56% of the vote over Democrat Josh Lowry (Source 2). He is best known publicly as a former punter for the Indianapolis Colts NFL franchise (Source 2). Smith operates WonderTree Farm in Zionsville and serves on the House Education Committee (Source 1). He took the oath of office on November 19, 2024. He faces no primary challenger in 2026. *Note: Because Smith was first elected in 2024, he did not serve in the 2022 legislative session; HB 1296 (2022) constitutional carry Rule 8 reference does not apply.*

Second Amendment

No public position found

No direct public statement, vote, pledge, or questionnaire response by Smith specifically addressing Second Amendment issues was found in sources reviewed. He did not serve in 2022 and HB 1084 (2024) predates his election; no individual vote record for that bill was verified for Smith.
