Background
Chris Jeter has represented House District 88 (portions of Hamilton, Hancock, Madison, and Marion counties) since August 2020, when Republican precinct committeemen appointed him to fill the vacancy created by former House Speaker Brian Bosma's retirement (Source 2). He is a partner at Massillamany Jeter & Carson LLP and a U.S. Navy Reserve officer who grew up in Hamilton County; he earned his JD from The George Washington University Law School (Source 9). Jeter chairs the House Judiciary Committee and also serves on the Courts and Criminal Code Committee (Source 1). He filed for the 2026 Republican primary on January 29, 2026, facing challenger Stephanie Jo Yocum (D) in November (Source 2).
