Background

Michelle Davis has represented House District 58 (Whiteland/Johnson County) since November 4, 2020. She was born and raised in Johnson County, played Division I basketball at Ball State University (national free throw record), and later earned a master's degree from Purdue University; she currently serves as Director of Adult Education at Central Nine Career Center (Source 1)(Source 2). She is best known legislatively as the author of HB 1041 in both 2022 (K–12 transgender sports ban, vetoed and veto-overridden) and 2025 (collegiate transgender sports ban) (Source 6)(Source 5). Trump endorsed her on January 26, 2026, calling her a "REAL Republican" and faulting Walker for voting against redistricting (Source 3). She voted for the redistricting bill when it passed the Indiana House (Source 4) and told the Capital Chronicle she was "full-force steam ahead" even after Walker reversed his retirement decision (Source 4). In April 2026 she participated in SD-41 candidate debates before an evangelical civic network (Source 16).

Support

Authored HB 1041 (2022, K–12 trans sports) and HB 1041 (2025, collegiate trans sports) — both framed as protecting female athletes; Trump's endorsement praises her for protecting "Hoosier Values" (Source 5)(Source 6)(Source 3). Note: Trans-sports legislation is categorized here under family values/pro-life in the voter-guide framing. No direct abortion floor vote confirmed in available sources.
